Rd.,
Kingston,
escaped
injury
when
the car he was
driving
struck
a
deer
on
M-46,
six
miles northwest
of
Vassar,
Friday morning.
Caro
State
Police said
the
deer
ran
from
the
south
side
of
the
road
into
the
path
of the
vehicle.
The
accident took
place
at
7:10 a.m.
Guy
J.
Howard,
18,
Cass
City,
escaped
serious injury
Sunday
afternoon when
the
car he was
driving went
out of
control
and
landed
in a
ditch
on
Elkton Road
at
Rescue
Road.
Howard told Huron County
Sheriff's
deputies
he was
northbound
and
attempted
to
steer
clear
of
another north-
bound
auto which
had
stopped
to
make
a
left
turn.
Howard
was
not
hospital-
ized.
The
accident
took place
at
12:45 p.m.
Two
drivers
escaped
injury
in
a
property
damage
acci-
dent
that
took
place
Monday
on
Cedar
Drive
near
Doerr
Road
in
Cass
City.

budget problems
in his de-
partment.
He
told commis-
sioners
that
the
county
share
of
funding
mental health
programs
in the
county next
year
will
run
about
$32,000,
along

institutional
costs
for
mental patients
in
state
homes.
He
told
the
board cutbacks
are
being
made
by the
department
to
stay
within
its
budget.
Sheriff
Hugh Marr
gave
the
board
an
update
on the
county
communications
system
that
connects
police
and
civil
defense
agencies.
He
said
some
problems
have
arisen
in
the
final
billing
for
equipment
and
that
these
have

been
settled.
